Last Glance, The Seven Seas Fish Company
$95.00 – $455.00West Coast PrintsCanvas 1.5-inch Gallery WrapFine Art Paper Print OnlyClear16x2024x30Last Glance, The Seven Seas Fish Company, a building I walk past, that is still standing, on the corner of Chisholm and Georgia streets almost every day with my dog Wink. In the late fall of 2021, I captured some amazing images of the reflection of the abandoned Seven Seas Fish Co. Ltd. cannery in its window. The very next day, the window had been broken, and just days after that, the neighbourhood news was that the city was going to demolish the cannery. While I love the texture of peeling paint, the light of a sunny fall morning and the reflections cast in this one, I think I love the story more – capturing a singular moment in time that will never again occur.

Lilac Motel

As a fan of road trips, and during the Covid pandemic when we couldn’t travel, I set myself the task of creating a series of imagined quirky motels that were each based on a chosen colour. This is the Lilac Motel, complete with funky signage, check-in office and a neighbourhood crow. It’s an inviting, happy place that has a pool to take a dip in, limitless cups of coffee, and free cable.

Looking West, Through The Westham Island Bridge

Lucky Shamrock Motel

This is the Lucky Shamrock Motel, complete with funky signage, free ice, check-in office and Stanley, the motel snail. It’s a serene little place to rest your weary traveller’s soul. At the Lucky Shamrock there’s always a rainbow peeking out from behind the fields, and, if you’re lucky, you may find a pot of gold.

Framed with the village trees in early Autumn colours in the foreground and the line of Poplars that line Harbour Park across the slough in the background. The colours are rich greens, pale yellows, with the spark of the red door of this historic building: a fixture in this little Westcoast town.

On Speeds Dock

Speed’s Pub is nestled along the Chilcotin Slough, South Arm of the Fraser River in Ladner, BC. This is an image of Barry’s sailboat tied up to Speed’s Dock. Barry has lived on his boat here for many years. He was a great friend to Speed, the late owner of Speed’s Pub, and a legend in these parts. Greys, light blues and shades of taupe make up this tranquil colour palette.

River Sunrise

This is River Sunrise depicting a beautiful sailboat moored alongside a floating home; one of many, along the shores of the Fraser River near the town of Ladner. The sunrise is reflected in the calm morning waters of the river. Hues of river blues with the yellow accents of Autumn and sunrise dominate this illustration’s colour palette.

Seven Seas, Slough Side

Ltd., Seven Seas, Sloughside, in 2021 this is what I said: “This is the slough side perspective of the old Seven Seas Cannery. It is almost becoming an eyesore in our little harbour; complete with rust and graffiti, there is is still something almost graceful and charming about its current state of dishevelment. The layers of all the years are so obvious yet appealing somehow?” 2 years ago, in 2022, this building was demolished to make room for some new riverside development still in the works.
